Book a place at the CfGS Conference 2025

Jacqui McKinlay is set to step down as Chief Executive of the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny after six years leading the organisation. She is taking up a new role as Chief Operating Officer with Liverpool City Council starting in January 2022.  

In announcing the move, Lord Kerslake Chair of CfGS said: “Jacqui has made a tremendous contribution in her time with CfGS and leaves the organisation in a much stronger position with a wider remit, impact and influence. I am delighted that she will be able to apply her CfGS expertise in supporting Liverpool’s improvement journey. Our priority now is recruit to the Chief Executive role which will start immediately”.  

Jacqui said: “It has been an honour and privilege to work with the brilliant team and Board at CfGS, alongside our many partners and clients across the full range of sectors. It is a difficult decision to leave but I know CfGS will continue to make an impact nationally and locally, lead the debate and be the champion of good governance and scrutiny.

I am excited to return to my home city and taking on this important role at a critical time for the Council”.
