New Business Development Manager appointed
Councillor Ian Parry has resigned his role as Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Matters at Staffordshire County Council in order to take up the role of Business Development Manager at the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny.
Ian has a wealth of experience in both the public and private sector. As well as having been Deputy Leader for the last seven years his professional background is in business leadership, marketing and public relations including supporting FTSE 100 companies. In addition to his role at Staffordshire Ian sits on the National Children and Young People Board at the LGA and holds trustee and non-exec board positions for a number of organisations. He will continue to serve as a county councillor for the Stone Rural area.
Ian joins CfGS at a time of rapid change and expansion and will help drive the organisation’s growing consultancy and training support to both the local government and private sector.
On taking up his new post Ian Parry said:
“I am delighted to be joining the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny, and I’m excited about the new challenge of supporting organisations across the UK country to be more transparent, accountable and inclusive. It has been a privilege to serve on the council Cabinet over these last few years and know that there is a great team in place that will continue to deliver for Staffordshire.”
Jacqui McKinlay, Chief Executive of CfGS said of the appointment:
“I am very pleased to have Ian join our team, he brings with him invaluable experience from his work in a large council as well as the private sector. Both the operational and cultural environments of local authorities have transformed beyond recognition in many areas. It is a great asset to us, to have someone at CfGS who has spear headed that transformation in a county council.”
